Module Discussion NotesWhat I would like for you to do in the learning journals is share your notes on the readings, and include one outside link to a video, website, or image that expanded your understanding of the information provided for you in the readings.

Discussion Posts: A typical discussion post will ask you to respond to a series of questions after reading a literary work. For this particular assignment, I expect you to title each section of your notes by the title of the reading and then include an outline for each reading. For example:
M1S1 Read “Parts of an Essay” Handout.
M1S2 Watch video: “What is Literary Analysis.”
M1S3 Watch video: “MLA Introduction.”
M1S4 Watch video: “Formatting Your MLA Paper.”
M1S5 Watch video: “Stay Away, Plagiarism.”
M1S6 Watch the video clip on Plagiarism and Plagiarism Detection software.
M1S7 Watch video: “MLA Citation.”
M1S8 Watch video: “MLA In-Text Citation.”
M1S9 Read Kate Chopin’s “The Story of an Hour.”
M1S10 Study presentation: “Critical Lenses and ‘The Story of an Hour’.”
These titles will serve as guideposts for each of the discussion post notes. You will then break down each section into at least 3 main ideas and two key points for each section. Example:
M1S1 Read “Parts of an Essay” Handout.
I also expect you to include a source not provided in the class readings. Explain why you are including that source. For example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDVP23zd3Pw
This video provides a discussion of “The Story of an Hour.” This helped me understand the story more fully and guided me towards a potential topic for my first assignments by focusing me on the idea of a broken heart.
In addition, after you have crafted your notes, please comment on one to two other students’ notes on readings.
These comments should:
1. Be about 50 words long.
2. Point out a clarification of ideas.
3. Ask a question.
4. Expand upon a point.
5. Make a new connection within the work.
6. Add a connection to some outside source, image, event, media, etc.
These comments should NOT:
1. Say that the student did a great job, without expanding on one of the previous suggestions.
2. Thank the student for their explanation, without expanding on one of the previous suggestions.
The point of these discussion posts is to add to our understanding of the works/readings.
