National Hispanic Heritage Month Announcement
Panel Discussion: “Esperanza: A Celebration of Hispanic Heritage and Hope.”
Welcome to the 2021 National Hispanic Heritage celebration. In the words of Pablo Neruda from his poem “XVII”:
I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where,/ I love you directly without problems or pride:/ I love you like this because I don’t know any other way to love,/ except in this form in which I am not nor are you,/ so close that your hand upon my chest is mine,/ so close that your eyes close with my dreams. (One Hundred Love Sonnets: XVII, by Pablo Neruda Translated by Mark Eisner, lines 9-14)
This year’s theme, “Esperanza: A Celebration of Hispanic Heritage and Hope,” invites us to celebrate what brings us together and gives us hope for our future. Hope for Hispanics focuses on our dreams of a better life. Hope lives in our connections: familial, national, cultural, biological, and spiritual. The student panel discussion will examine our struggles, our educational desires, what sustains us, how to continue challenging ourselves and connecting with others. This year, we will have both virtual and CDC compliant physical events: Please look for full event details through RiverLife on Facebook CCG and CCG Instagram:
